Developmental psychologist
Rebecca Adler, M.S.
I am a PhD candidate at Vanderbilt University (ABD) in the Psychology and Human Development department. I work with Dr. Bethany Rittle-Johnson in the Children's Learning Lab, and also collaborate with Dr. Cristina Zepeda in the Advancing Learning Lab. I earned my M.S. at Vanderbilt as part of my PhD training, and double majored in psychology and cognitive science at Northwestern University. Prior to graduate school, I studied reading comprehension and spatial cognition. Outside of work, I am in a choir and enjoy jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and cooking.
I am a developmental psychologist, with a focus on children's learning of mathematics. In my research, I've explored the motivational, metacognitive, cognitive, and social aspects underlying the mathematics classroom experience and learning. My work is mainly quantitative, though I've also conducted qualitative research.
My dissertation focuses on the self-regulated studying of mathematics in college students. I expect to finish my degree in Spring 2025, and am seeking a Postdoc position in Summer or Fall 2025 in the math cognition and learning space.
